In May, our small grants programme awarded over £90,000 to over 40 not-for-profit organisations. PWCF is working to transform lives and build sustainable communities across the UK, Commonwealth and Internationally.
In recognition of the impact of the pandemic on small community organisations, this year, the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF) has doubled its small grants fund and will award £300,000 to community projects. We are pleased to highlight the projects we’ve supported in our most recent small grants round. SAGE Greenfingers in Sheffield provides weekly gardening and arts and crafts groups for people from the local area of Burngreave who are experiencing mental and/or physical ill health. On a large allotment, beneficiaries enjoy a range of activities and a shared lunch in supportive company, helping to reduce feelings of isolation. Our award will help 10 people to attend 16 weekly sessions and enjoy the benefits of time spent in green space.
Based in London, Waterloo Uncovered provides year-round support for Veterans and Serving Military Personnel suffering from mental and physical injuries from their time in service. The programme combines professional wellbeing support with the proven benefits of participation in an archaeological excavation on the Waterloo Battlefield. The Programme includes a fortnight excavating the Battlefield in Belgium. Our award will help Waterloo Uncovered to support 26 beneficiaries and make important archaeological discoveries which aid historical research.
Working to reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour, Coach My Sport is working in Stirling, Scotland. PWCF’s award will help 25 disengaged young people to feel included and engaged through making sport accessible to all. The sporting sessions also provide an important outlet for stress relief for young people.
Based in Sussex, Livestock are working to connect and inspire people through the arts. PWCF awarded funds to a peer support group for mothers and their children, half of whom have additional special educational needs or disabilities. The group will support 8 participants for 2 hours each week, promoting social inclusion and wellbeing.
With funding from PWCF, Autism NI (Northern Ireland)will provide eight group training workshops for 160 parents/carers, who have an autistic child. The interactive courses will bring families together to share experiences, reduce isolation, understand more about autism and empower them to build the confidence and skills to support their child.
