ASDA / IPL

Asda and IPL began supporting the Coronation Food Project with a pledge of 1 million meals in Christmas 2023. This pledge was fulfilled with a proportionate split of meat, potatoes, and vegetables, which enabled FareShare’s charities to provide balanced and nutritional meals to their service users.

Craig Buchanan, the FareShare Central & South East Scotland Service Manager, said, “There has been a really good variety of fresh vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and Brussels sprouts and sought-after meats like gammon that are perfect for Christmas. This will help families with their Christmas meals and take some of the financial pressure off, especially during the cost-of-living crisis.”

This project grew in scale, with Asda and IPL increasing their support by providing a supply of fruit, porridge, and nuts to support the breakfast provisions delivered by FareShare charities.

In January 2024, IPL reviewed and revised its operational process to redirect a supply of surplus fruit and vegetables to FareShare. This operational change has provided an additional 1 million meals for charities and community groups.
