Blackpool and Fylde Street Angels
- Social Inclusion
A four stage recovery model, helping vulnerable adults.
Blackpool and Fylde Street Angels were supported by an award from our small grants programme in 2021. The organisation operates a four stage recovery model to help vulnerable adults:
- Street outreach
- Providing accommodation
- Engaging support services
- Helping the individual to reintegrate through social enterprise schemes
So far, the social enterprise has carried out the restoration and reopening of a heritage crazy golf course on the Blackpool promenade. This has been a huge success in the first year, offering paid and volunteer opportunities to individuals who have been supported through the first three stages of the Street Angels programme. Ten individuals have volunteered at the crazy golf course, and one has become a paid supervisor.
The project has also had wider benefits across the Blackpool community – the restoration of the crazy golf course has made a section of the promenade more appealing, and preserved an important part of Blackpool’s heritage dating back to the 1960s.
