The Prince of Wales appoints Sarah Butler-Sloss and Kristin Rechberger, to the PWCF Board

The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund is delighted to announce the appointment of two Trustees, Mrs. Sarah Butler-Sloss and Ms. Kristin Rechberger.

Both Trustees were appointed by The Prince of Wales, who joined a virtual meeting of the Trustees in December 2020 and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the new Trustees for agreeing to use their diverse skills and experience to support PWCF.

Sarah Butler-Sloss is Founder and Chair of The Ashden Trust. She has been internationally recognised for her work in the field of green energy over the past 20 years, best known for founding the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy in 2001, which was renamed ‘Ashden – sustainable solutions, better lives’ in 2012.

Through her work at the Ashden Trust which is one of 17 Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts, Sarah supports programmes focusing on climate change, sustainable development, and improvement of the quality of life in poorer communities. Sarah is also a regular contributor to UK and global policy debates in the field of sustainable energy and in the DivestInvest campaign. Sarah is also a trustee of ClientEarth, a member of the Steering Committee of Schumacher College and the Advisory Board of the Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment.

Sarah said: “ I feel very honoured and delighted to join The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund, that is supporting great work in the environment, social inclusion and health and well-being. These couldn’t be more important areas to support today. With my 30 years of experience in environmental philanthropy, and of founding and running a charity that works to promote and scale climate solutions and build a more just world, my interests and expertise are very aligned to the work of this important charity.”

Kristin Rechberger has spent her career supporting those who defend nature, because we all depend on it. Currently, Kristin is CEO of Dynamic Planet, which helps advance and invest in markets that restore nature. Dynamic Planet focuses on developing responsible businesses that regenerate landscapes, seascapes and communities, optimizing environmental, social and economic returns.

Before founding Dynamic Planet in 2012, Kristin was Senior Vice President of Global Programs and Partnerships at the National Geographic Society. She is a 1995 Luce Scholar, a 2009 Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and an active advisory board member of National Geographic Pristine Seas, Smithsonian Institution’s Earth Optimism, the Environmental Investigation Agency (US), and the Environmental Film Festival.

Kristin has a public policy degree from Duke University and has completed executive programs at Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Oxford.
